To all the Dads and those who have a fathering role. We think you’re eggcellent. If you feel like getting cracking on an omelette for your Dad this weekend, a dozen free range eggs cost €3.25.
You can just wing it with the chicken wings, available in hot and spicy or Chinese marinades, available in 500g packs for just €2.29.
Keep yourself covered if people turnip out of the blue, with a chocolate cake which should stop most arguments. Life becomes a piece of cake at just €2.99!
Don’t worry, be hoppy with the award-winning craft beer selection from the Crafty Brewing Company , priced from €1.89 for Lager and Irish craft stout.
This weekend I’ll be keeping it shrimple, with a quick prawn pasta salad that all the family will love. Fresh prawns cost €3.69 and are available from the chiller cabinet.
The recipe is over on the blog: http://wholesomeireland.com/prawn-pasta-salad-recipe/
You can say thanks a bunch to your Dad with bananas at €1.49 or grapes €1.99,
but make no missteaks, the Hereford Striploin Steaks are my favourite at the moment, priced at €9.99, they cook beautifully on the barbecue or a searing hot pan.
I know it’s cheesey but I think Dads are grate.
All joking aside, Father’s Day is a chance to celebrate together, to join together as a family, remember where you came from, and I can’t think of a better way to do this than around a barbecue.
If we’re lucky (everything crossed), we will get the weather to dine outside in the sunshine. We have a hammock that we bought on special in Lidl a couple of weeks ago and I know that my other half will happily laze about in it for the day, waiting on hand and foot. He’s allowed one day off, I suppose!
